Eligibility to sit for the examination: All Guardians of the Record engaged in the practice of court reporting (regardless of methodology) = FPR Teachers of court reporting or anyone connected in an official capacity with a school or college conducting a court reporting program = FPI Anyone involved in their professional capacity as a manager or owner in the reporting profession = FPM Scopists actively providing services to the court reporting profession = FPS Students may take the FPR examination, although, certification is deferred pending proof of graduation from a court reporting program or entry into the practice of court reporting.
Maintaining Certification: 3.0 CEUs within a three-year fiscal period (defined as December 31 of the year in which the FPR examination was passed – Example: if you receive the FPR in May of 2006, your certificate cycle will end December 31, 2009). One hour is the equivalent of .1 CEU.
How to obtain CEUs: Any NCRA approved CEU points. When attending conferences other than FCRA-sponsored events, Certificate Holders must request an FPR punch card in advance of the event. To request a punch card send an e-mail to fpr@fcraonline.org or fax to 407-774-6440. Upon completion of the seminar/conference, the punch card along with the program itinerary must be returned to FCRA Headquarters. In the alternative, the submission of an official NCRA transcript to FCRA Headquarters will satisfy the requirement for CEUs. To obtain other CEUs: Complete and submit an FCRA CEU request form along with a copy of the program agenda/schedule/outline of the subjects covered with verification and the CEU fee. CEU fees for an FCRA member are $20.00 and non-members are $35.00. Certificate Holders may earn .2 CEU points per hour when teaching or presenting an approved seminar. Certificate Holders may earn .15 CEU points per article written and published in the FCR. Certificate Holders may earn up to 1.00 CEU points within a three-year renewal period participating in the FCRA Pro Bono Program. One hour is the equivalent of .1 CEU. Certificate Holders may earn CEU points for participation as a member of the Board of Directors or an FCRA Committee within a three-year renewal period. Board Member participation earns a maximum of 1.00 CEU points within a three-year period. Committee Chair participation earns a maximum of .5 CEU points within a three-year period. Committee Member participation earns a maximum of .25 CEU points within a three-year period. ** ALL CERTIFICATE HOLDERS ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR SUBMISSION OF ALL REQUESTED CEUs TO FCRA HEADQUARTERS.
CEU Retention: Certificate Holders will receive a statement along with their first dues renewal application each year detailing their CEU status. Availability of information via the FCRA website or email to HYPERLINK "mailto:fpr@fcraonline.org" fpr@fcraonline.org any requests.
