What is CART Captioning?

Communication Access Realtime Translation is the real-time display of verbatim speech-to-text, accomplished by a stenographer writing on a steno machine utilizing computer software. CART captioners utilize realtime technology to display English text in a readable format for deaf and hard-of-hearing consumers in a variety of settings, including classrooms, courtrooms, religious services, conventions and conferences, cultural events, or anywhere access to communication is needed. CART captioning is increasingly being streamed remotely via an Internet connection.
